About Polisthenics

Welcome to Polisthenics. We’re a physio-led hub specialising in tailored physiotherapy, strength training, sports massage, performance support and education for pole dancers aiming to recover, get stronger and train smarter.

Polisthenics exists because pole dancers deserve better support than they’re currently getting.

Whether it’s coming back from injury, trying to build strength or pushing towards new skills, many pole dancers are forced to rely on generic advice that doesn’t reflect what pole actually demands. ‘Just rest,’ ‘just do more conditioning’ or ‘listen to your body’ doesn’t lead to confidence or long-term progress.

Pole is complex. It demands strength, control, flexibility, coordination and trust in your body, both physically and mentally. A general rehab or training approach doesn’t prepare you for these pole-specific demands.

Polisthenics was created to change that. With us you don’t need a separate physio and strength coach. We bring together physiotherapy, strength and conditioning and pole experience (learn more about our Rehab and Training services) so you can go from injury to performance safely and effectively. This lovely feedback illustrates it:

You are an athlete. Even if you don’t compete. Even if you train for fun. And athletes don’t rely on guesswork. They train with intent, build strength off the pole that transfers back to on the pole. Education sits alongside exercise so you understand what you’re doing and why (have a look at our Courses). Rehab, training and performance aren’t separate boxes, they are parts of the same journey.

Our goal is to give you the tools, understanding and confidence to take ownership of your training long term. We’re not into quick fixes – we’re evidence-based, qualified, insured and honest, focused on doing things properly rather than making them look easy. Community matters. We aim to create a space where questions are encouraged, you feel supported and learn while having fun. We aim to raise the standards in pole training and rehab.

Polisthenics aims to be the go-to resource for pole-specific rehabilitation, strength training and education, supporting long-term resilience, performance and confidence.

We aim to empower pole dancers with expert, personalised and accessible support to prevent injuries, recover from them and build lasting strength – on and off the pole. We’re not just here to fix injuries, we’re here to support your whole journey. From recovery to performance, we help you build a body that feels good to move in, a body that doesn’t just cope, but thrives.

At Polisthenics we take a holistic, collaborative approach rather than giving you rigid instructions. We meet you where you are, adapt plans to your life, commitments and energy levels and prioritise honest communication. Progress isn’t linear and life gets in the way sometimes. Treating you as an individual allows you to move forward at your own pace with the right level of support.

We see bodies as adaptable. Pain doesn’t automatically mean damage and being pain-free doesn’t mean you’re ready to return to full training. The aim isn’t to avoid movement, but to rebuild confidence and capacity so movement feels safe again. We focus on what you can do, not what you can’t. Training through pain isn’t something we normalise. We help you understand when it’s appropriate to push and when it’s better to step back, addressing underlying issues so you can work towards pain-free, confident training.

Strength training should have a clear purpose – supplementing your pole training, improving performance and reducing your risk of sustaining an injury. We’re invested in the long term. We believe injury prevention should be proactive, not reactive. Your rehab shouldn’t stop at you becoming pain-free. It should stop once you’ve reached your goals.

Education is central to everything we do. Understanding your body and your training builds confidence and autonomy. We value questions, discussion, and curiosity. Our aim is to give you the tools to make informed decisions long-term so you’re not dependent on us.

Good practice is grounded in evidence, experience and clear reasoning, not trends or quick fixes. Strong foundations matter. Without them, progress often stalls. Focusing on the basics before the ‘fancy’ stuff allows for steady, sustainable progression, whatever your goals.

Rehab and training aren’t separate phases, but part of the same journey towards confidence, performance and long-term resilience. By combining years of pole training and coaching with clinical insight into rehab and strength and conditioning, we are able to bring together the best of different fields to support you safely and effectively at any stage of your pole journey.

We’re deeply passionate about raising standards within the pole industry, which starts with open conversation, shared learning and better understanding.

I’m a physiotherapist with a background in strength training and years of pole coaching. I work with pole dancers who want to return to training after injury, improve performance or reduce the risk of recurring issues. My approach combines clinical reasoning utilising pole, rehab and strength training experience, helping you move from pain and uncertainty to confidence and control in your training.

My love for pole began in 2015 and it inspired me to pursue a career in fitness and establish Polisthenics. In 2018 I became a certified personal trainer and started working as a physical activity specialist, while teaching pole and other fitness classes.

I have faced my fair share of injuries along the way. These setbacks fuelled my curiosity and passion for injury prevention, leading me to complete a degree in physiotherapy in 2023. Since then, I’ve worked in primary care musculoskeletal services at the NHS.

I have experience with general musculoskeletal conditions and sports injuries. In 2022 and 2023, I assisted the England O40s Masters hockey team as physio support and sports massage therapist, helping them win World and European championship titles. My special interests include shoulder rehabilitation and hypermobility.

Pole combines strength, flexibility, skill, community and mental wellbeing in a way no other activity does. Through Polisthenics, I aim to help others enjoy all these benefits while training safely and effectively.

When I’m not on a pole, you might find me doing calisthenics, handbalancing or breakdancing. I also love travelling, scuba diving, hiking, tech, gardening, reading, learning and puzzles.
